Founded in 2021 by entrepreneurs and filmmakers Omar Almaeena and Safwan Modir, Al Haboob (الهَبُوب) is the world’s first modern camel racing team to compete internationally.
Based in Saudi Arabia, the team blends heritage, elite performance, advanced veterinary science, and cinematic storytelling. What began as a shared passion between two friends has transformed into a quest to globalise the Kingdom’s oldest sport and lay the foundation for the world’s first Camel Racing League.
Al Haboob combines centuries of Bedouin racing wisdom with cutting-edge sports science and veterinary medicine. Every camel in their care is treated as an elite athlete - monitored, conditioned, and trained to peak performance under the guidance of some of the Gulf's most respected specialists.
Their journey was brought to global audiences through Netflix's Camel Quest, which co-founders Omar and Safwan co-produced and starred in, introducing the world to Gulf camel culture and the stories behind the sport.
Today, Al Haboob competes across The Middle East with a roster of 13 registered camels, backed by a world-class team of trainers, veterinary surgeons, and performance analysts - all united by one vision: to make camel racing the next great global sport.
Al Haboob has had a landmark season both on and off the track. In December 2025, the team made global headlines by signing football icon Paul Pogba as its first ambassador and shareholder, marking a bold new chapter for the sport of camel racing.
That momentum continued into the 2025/26 season, with Al Haboob securing multiple podium finishes, including a standout victory in Qatar with the talented camel Hajma.
With even bigger moments on the horizon, Al Haboob is continuing to push the sport forward, bringing fresh energy, global attention and a new vision to camel racing.
