Background

Veterinary Surgery & Sports Medicine

Origin

Dutch

Every camel is an athlete. Give them science, structure, and care — and they will perform beyond expectation.

Dr. Margreet Voermans is a Dutch veterinary surgeon holding two of the most elite credentials in her field: Diplomate ECVS (Equine Surgery) and Diplomate ACVSMR (Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation). She is among the very few veterinarians globally with both certifications, and the only one of her kind in the entire Middle East.

After building a distinguished surgical career across Europe, performing over 120 surgeries per month in Sweden and managing an equine hospital in Bogotá, Colombia, Dr. Margreet transitioned to camel sports medicine in 2019. She became Medical Director of a high-tech camel hospital in Qatar, specialising in performance medicine for racing camels that run at speeds of up to 60 km/h.

At Al Haboob Racing, Dr. Margreet leads a new era of performance, recovery, and ethical care. She co-founded Vetsgate, a veterinary consultancy operating across the Middle East and Europe, and currently chairs the Anti-Doping and Training Committee of the World Camelid Sports Organisation (WCSO). She is also leading the construction of a new camel hospital in Al Hofuf, Saudi Arabia.

Her philosophy is simple: treat every racing camel as an elite professional athlete, applying the same science, care, and standards that define the world's best equestrian programmes.
